This is Pattaya-at-Night, your WEB Site:

| 2062 pictures. |
| 211 HTML files you can watch. |
| 94 files running in the background. |
| 2 PDF files. |
| 1 ZIP file. |
| At the moment of writing we use 133 MB on our Server. |
| All the codes are written 'by hand' using editors from NoteTab & HTML-Kit.
We simply don't like the Spaghetti codes produced by some Wysiwyg and CMS programs and the error messages they produce during code testing... |
| The codes get tested by Tidy. |
| We use TopStyle for writing the CSS Files. |
| Background Pictures we generate with sTile & the help of Huey. |
| The Pictures from our Digital Cameras have to pass IrfanView or PhotoShop. | Before going online, all the files get tested on Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Konqueror, running on Windows and Linux. And the more we are testing on Linux, the more we like this OS. On Linux we never had a crash.

What looks fine in one browser, can look ugly in an other one. Windows Explorer version 6 with SP 2 upgrade and the version number 6.0.2900 doesn't work the same way in the European and in the Thai version.
Our first version of Fastlink worked perfectly on an US version of IE, in a German and French version but not in the Thai version.
Firefox doesn't like numbers as a definition in stylesheets. It ignors '3Dborder' but accepts 'Border3D'. It has its very own way interpreting stylesheets.
Opera seems to be terrible fast even with very complicated Tables, but works slow and in a very crazy way with Frames.
Internet Explorer seems to like Frames, as many as possible, but gets slow if it has to deal with Tables.
Internet Explorer seems to be the most intelligent browser. Sometimes we got the impression that IE knows excactly what the programmer wanted to see - and not what he really did write in his codes.
On the other hand, Opera seems to be the most 'stupid' browser. You have to tell it everything exactly: Firefox, IE and some other browsers have some presets for some functions (e.g. Borders), Opera doesn't have any. According the complains in the internet, version 9 from Opera seems to be full of bugs. If you are surfing with Opera, why not change to Firefox?
And in some browsers 12 pixels aren't the same if you declare it in a CSS stylesheet or in the document itself.
Konqueror has a lot of problems with animated GIF files. The beautiful advertisement form Naklua Sauna looks very ugly on Konqueror.
We just made some tests with Apple's new Safari Browser for Windows. Apple claims that this browser is 2 times faster than Microsofts Internet Explorer. Forget it! It not even understand the most simple attributes used on most websites. It not only ignores the attributes, it does not even displays the information associated with this attributes. As it stands out, Safari for Windows is the badest Browser we ever did run on our computers. Dear Apple, it never was a problem to make a fast browser, the problem is to make a good one. Safari 3.0.4 is an improvement. Many bugs have been corrected.
Writing codes for HTML pages can be a very frustating job . . . |
