CentralFestival Pattaya Beach

On January 23 2009 the new CentralFestival Pattaya Beach Shopping Complex opened with a Mardi Gras Parade on Beach Road and Second Road and with a big party at the shopping center.

The new Shopping Center is situated between Second Road and Beach Road on Pattaya Soi 9.

Impressions

To profit from reduced prices at the Central Department Shop you need their Spot card - otherwise you pay a lot too much!!!

Not Tourist friendly.

An example:

Tschibo Coffee 399 Baht without card, 199 Baht with Spot card.

Central Department Shop seems to be about 10% more expensive than Carrefour. Bread costs up to twice as much as at Carrefour or Tesco/Lotus.

Luxurious shopping has its price...

Not everything worked perfectly: The waterfalls at the entry to the Food Court made problems and at a toilet water dropped from the ceiling.

Not all shops could open. Some will get ready during February only - and some will not survive this year.

Recommendation:
Wear shoes with good soles, all the ceramics at the new shopping center are very slippery.

Bangkok conquers Pattaya

CentralFestival Pattaya Beach opened on January 23 2009 with a big Party. Pattaya has now the same luxurious Shopping Center as Bangkok...

It's nice to have, but do we need it?


	CentralFestival announced 'well-known Italian Restaurants'. There are 2 Pizza outlets: Pan-Pan and Pizza Company. Pizza Company is a Thai Ketchup Pizza vendor and not a 'Italian Restaurant' and Pan-Pan... Most food outlets at CentralFestival are Fastfood Restaurants. The lovely people from Bangkok forget that Pattaya has a lot of Farangs: The menues at CentralFestival's Food Court (ground floor) are written in Thai only.

Mardi Gras Parade

Pattaya without Red Light Districts, without Beer Bars or A Go-Go Clubs: No Tourists, no Hotels, no Shopping Centers, no Mardi Gras Parade, no Money - not even for you - dear Mayor, that's your reality!

Pattaya Police was not capable of keeping the traffic off the street. On 2nd Road the last 30% of the parade had to share the street with motorcycle and car drivers. Just another evidence of incapacity.
